The Week in Training
1/17/11
Spent about an hour and a half in the weight room while Caitlin got some time in on the treadmill.
1/18/11
49 min running, two miles at 5:55 pace with a quarter mile rest lap in between. Spent about half an hour on the bike trainer afterward to loosen up the legs.

Ran for an 1:15 with Dad, we're guessing we ran a little over 6.5 miles. This was his longest continuous run to date... not bad for someone fresh off a tough 5k in Knoxville.
During the afternoon, got about 6 miles hiking in with my bud Joshua.

Ran about 10.25 miles total with 6X800 meter repeats. The repeats were at ~ 6:00min/mile pace with 400 meter recovery laps.

Recovery
1/22/11
Caitlin and I made a trip out to the Cataloochee section of the Smokies to knock off some trails that neither of us have done. We both have aspirations of hiking all the trails in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we have a ways to go... but we're trying anyway.
Our hike for this trip was the Boogerman Loop, and if you've not hiked this one we highly recommend it. Several big trees and plenty of solitude.

An easy 7.6mi in 1:04:30. Got a few more miles in than I expected tonight, as we were making our way back to the car Caitlin realized she locked the keys in the car. Lucky for us we only live about a mile and a quarter from the track where we were finishing our run, so I just ran home and got the extra key.
Looking Back:
Things are starting to fall back in place after my hiatus from running following the Lookout Mountain 50 miler. Weekly mileage is still pretty low, ( about 30mi this week), but I've managed to maintain a decent base while allowing some residual aches and pains to heal. Now that I'm feeling thoroughly recovered I'm looking to hopefully shake off some rust at the Strawberry Plains Half in a few weeks.
