After the near 6 hour beat down I received on the Appalachian Trail last week, I decided I may take a short reprieve from the high country trails. Instead of running the mist shrouded crest of the ridge, I decided to be a "low-life" and spend some time in the creeks, coves, and highways of the valley.

The run occupied most of my AM on Thursday, but seeing as how I "only" ran twenty miles I decided to bike across the county in the afternoon and hook up with my Dad for what turned into an approximately 30 mile ride. He's been a fiend on the bike this Spring in preparation for a 100 kilometer ride this weekend... well, I suppose I at least know where I get it from.
To continue with the low-life theme, Caitlin and I took to the Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon for a nice easy 3 hour kayaking trip on Friday. There is an abundance of bird life on the streams of East Tennessee this time of year, we counted over twenty different species while floatin' down the river.

We wrapped the float trip up at the in-laws and enjoyed a good evening of grilling and chilling out on the deck. A wonderful way to end the trip.
Now I suppose I must unfortunately work for a living for a few days. Guess you can't bum around all the time.
